It seems most American’s don’t really want to cut back on their lifestyle to cut energy usage but may be open to using more efficient technology and or sustainable energies.
America expends an exponential amount more of energy than any other nation in the world industrial or developing. It seems America’s problem is not just the technology it choses to use but more so a moral dilemma.
I’m curious what other people who already acknowledge the reality of global warming think. A green dime for your thoughts.

You must have heard the saying: reduce, reuse, recycle. That is the mystical secret of going green. It is quite simple to do, it just takes a little readjustment in your thinking. Reduce, reuse, and recycle is a catchy way to think that the changes we can make in our going green endeavors are in reality pretty easy and can even save us some money.

1. Reduce Your Every Day Consumption

Most of us were raised not to be wasteful but it seems like we have forgotten that lesson as we got older. The first step to going green is to start reducing the amount of items that are disposable by using items that can be re-used.

* You can reduce the amount of harmful fuels you use by driving less, keeping your car tuned up, and keeping your tires properly inflated. Try not to drive your car as much, combine errands when possible. Plan out your route so you don’t have to do a lot of runabout.

* Make your home more energy efficient so you are not using more fuel than necessary to heat and cool your your house. Keep your furnace filters clean, add weatherstrips in windows and doors and add more insulations.

Reduce your every day consumption is the logical first step to going green. The less you use the less demand on fuel consumption and the environment.

2. Reuse Instead Of Disposable

We have gotten a little spoiled in the last 20 to 30 years. We have gotten the bad habit of buying disposable everything. If you stop to think for a minute you would be hard pressed to think of ten items that don’t have disposable alternatives. Everything it seems has been made to be thrown away.

We have disposable razors, disposable bottles, disposable diapers, etc. This list could go on and on. The point is that we might not realize that this way of thinking isn’t good for our environment and it’s also costly.

* Use reusable water bottle, the type that are dishwasher safe for your water needs.

* Use reusable fabric bags for grocery shopping.

* Pack your lunch in plastic containers rather than paper bags.

3. Recycle Papers, Cans, Plastic, Etc

Once again, this is an easy step to take. There are some items you use that can’t be re-used, such as pop cans, plastic containers. For these items you can decrease the impact on the environment by recycling them instead of throwing them away and overloading up the land fills.

Increasingly all communities have some kind of recycling programs and they pick up recycling bin on the same day they pick up the trash. You just throw newspapers, cans, bottles, etc into the recycling bin during the week and take it to the curb on trash day. It could not be any easier.
