Can You Recommend A Good Natural Peanut Butter With No Hydrogenated Oils That Your Kids Like?

I made the mistake of giving my son peter pan peanut butter, and he loves it. I want to go healthier for him so I tried some organic natural peanut butter from a health food store. Not so much.. He is having none of that. What is a decent tasting natural peanut butter?

    Try making it with your son that way he will be more incline to eat it since he made it (it’s also a great way to get them to eat veggies or foods that don’t normally like.)
    Here is a quick and easy recipe just use organic ingredients.
    * 15 ounces shelled and skinned roasted peanuts
    * 1 teaspoon sea salt
    * 1 1/2 teaspoons honey
    * 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
    Place the peanuts, salt and honey into the bowl of a food processor. Process for 1 minute. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Place the lid back on and continue to process while slowly drizzling in the oil and process until the mixture is smooth, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Place the peanut butter in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.

    Most grocery stores have a store brand of natural peanut butter that has only “peanuts and salt”. Smuckers also makes a natural peanut butter with only peanuts and salt.
    You can also make your own pb by grinding your own peanuts in your food processor. Whole Foods also has a “grind your own” peanut butter station.
    What makes cheap pb so creamy is partially hydrogenated oil added to the mix, and a natural pb will NEVER have that creamy feel without those added oils.
    EDIT: Skippy Natural has added palm oil and sugar. Palm oil is high in saturated fat, as opposed to peanut oil which is a monounsaturated fat. The palm oil is solid at room temperature and is why it stays creamy and the pb doesn’t separate.

    Some stores have peanut butter machines — they grind down the peanuts right then and there.
    You could also try mixing in some honey with some of the “good for you” stuff — it’d sweeten things like I’m sure he’s missing by not having Jiff

    Skippy Natural. It is good and creamy. That is what I buy for us, and I feel pretty good about it.

    We use Skippy Natural in our house. My daughter seems to like it and it tastes fine to me as well. It is trans-fat free.
