Body Temperature And Your Internal Clock

Your body temperature is really an internal clock that keeps you awake and sleep at certain times of the day. The rise and fall of body temperature is a clue for your body to bring about the feels of being conscious or being tired.

When your body temperature starts to drop, you will feel tired, listless, and more inattentive. If your body temperature rises, you will experience more energetic, awake, and be able to concentrate better.

Do not misunderstanding the fall of body temperature at certain times on the day as the need to sleep. Your body temperature may rise and drop several times in the day as a reaction to the activities you are doing at that time.

When you place heavy physical demands on your body your body temperature will arise above the norm as a reaction to any intense physical action, the body temperature will drops for a while as soon as you stop the activity.

For instance, after you work an 8 hour shift at a job that requires intensive activity, you may experience altogether exhausted and ready to drowse off when you come home. What you will actually find is that this feeling of fatigue is not a genuine desire to sleep, but rather a response from your body due to the dip of body temperature.

If you refuse sleeping at this moment and allow for a “wind-down” period for your body and after this period, body temperature will return to normal and you will feel awake again.

It is beneficial that you nap for 10 to 45 minutes during your day to physically recharge yourself, it is good to take this nap when you experience this body temperature drop as it will help you sleep. Always limit your naps to no more than 45 minutes to avoid entering deep sleep.

After you wake up from your power nap it is natural to feel lethargic or dozy, this is because your melatonin levels are higher. Get as much high intensity light as possible the moment you wake up, and make sure to actuate your body to get your body temperature up and running again.

If you currently live a very inactive lifestyle, your body temperature will fall very often when you are sitting about on your butt or watching television, and so if you feel tired during the day realize it is not because you need more sleep. It is because you need LESS sleep and MORE motility!
